About the Southern Utah Heritage Choir

Our Beginning

The Southern Utah Heritage Choir was organized in 1994 in St. George, Utah, with a desire to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and the restoring influence of sacred music. From its earliest days singing in the historic St. George Tabernacle, the choir has been devoted to bearing testimony through song and blessing the lives of those who listen.

The “Jewel of Southern Utah”

Over the years, the choir has come to be known as the “Jewel of Southern Utah”—a title that reflects both its musical excellence and its spiritual focus. The choir presents annual spring, fall, patriotic, and Christmas concerts, along with firesides and numerous community events. By blending mature and youthful voices, they have established a standard of choral worship that reaches listeners of all ages.

Tours Across the World

In addition to its regular concert schedule in Southern Utah, the Southern Utah Heritage Choir has toured extensively. Performances have carried the choir to audiences throughout the United States, Europe, the British Isles, Mexico, and Asia. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the choir completed a remarkable tour in Italy, with sacred concerts on the Rome Italy Temple grounds, at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, and in many churches across the country.

Service, Sacrifice, and Faith

The choir is composed entirely of volunteers who freely give their time, means, and talents. Members pay their own expenses for rehearsals, local performances, and tours. They also serve on committees that help with organization, logistics, and outreach. Their willingness to sacrifice reflects a shared devotion to the Lord and a desire to bless others through music.

Supporting Future Musicians

To encourage rising generations of singers, the choir has established a vocal scholarship program that assists students pursuing music education. Through this effort, the Southern Utah Heritage Choir invests in the future of sacred and choral music, helping young people develop their gifts and use them in the service of God and community.

Our Ongoing Mission

Wherever the choir sings—in the St. George Tabernacle, concert halls, churches, or temples at home and abroad—its purpose remains the same: to testify of Jesus Christ, to honor the heritage of faith and freedom, and to lift hearts heavenward through inspired choral music.
